I thought that I'd check out the Orionid meteor shower this year, and so I drove to the Goyder Anglican church and sat in the cold for a few hours to try and see the lights! It was an awesome experience watching the many smaller shooting stars while waiting for the bigger ones to pass by. I also enjoyed getting screeched at by an apparently indignant masked owl who kept passing and perching overhead!
One of the most stunning places in Fiji, the island of Taveuni has a rift crater atop a mountain in the center of the island with a lake; Lake Tagimaucia, which is slowly filling in with sediment. This is the sun setting over the surrounding mountain tops.
