The Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae)

This was a farmed emu in NSW, near the Warrumbungles. The lady who owned the farm was tremendously lovely, and we had a great time looking around her garden and chatting to her!

Me and some of my friends were alerted to this nest by a fleeing parent as we walked through a semi-recently burnt bit of heath near Lennox Heads. It did not take long for it to return and shelter it's eggs from the light drizzle

Zebra finches (Taeniopygia guttata)

I love watching zebra finches. I waited by a waterhole in the early morning to catch these zebra finches, yet unaware of my presence coming in for a drink. Other birds such as budgerigars and dotterels joined them for the morning’s drink.
