A little Megachile bee roosts [sleeps] in arid Central Australia.

This male took a bit to get a good ID on, because he has unusual lobed antennae, which are not present in most other specimens! It required a closer look and a particular camera angle to be sure of an ID.

This Tetragonula carbonaria queen was removed as part of a study into the re-queening process in Australian stingless bees. She has yet to mate and so has not swollen to her full queenly size!
