Nomia (Hoplonomia) rubroviridis M
Megachile apicata male
This male took a bit to get a good ID on, because he has unusual lobed antennae, which are not present in most other specimens! It required a closer look and a particular camera angle to be sure of an ID.

Amphylaeus morosus Female
A. morosus ranges from Victoria all the way up to QLD, not occuring far beyond the great sandy national park.

Virgin queen of stingless bees
This Tetragonula carbonaria queen was removed as part of a study into the re-queening process in Australian stingless bees. She has yet to mate and so has not swollen to her full queenly size!

Hylaeus (Macrohylaeus) alcyoneus Female
Neon Cuckoo Bee (Thyreus nitidulus)
A beautiful roosting neon cuckoo bee (Thyreus nitidulus)! Even bees need to rest and those species that are unfortunate to not have a nest must make do the best that they can.
